O fotografiích z Boubína

Ještě v polovině 19. století pokrýval svahy mohutné šumavské hory Boubín celistvý, rozlehlý prales. Nazývejme jej Velkým pralesem. Přešly vichřice, gradace kůrovcovitých, těžby. Velký prales zmizel, ale přece ne tak docela. Zachovalo se z něj, překvapivě, mnoho. Cílem mého snažení je dokumentovat místa, kde všude Velký prales nějakým způsobem zůstal a mapovat v čase jejich změny.

Fotografie vznikají již pár let a během té doby doznal prales již viditelných změn. Velká část studovaného území leží v Národní přírodní rezervaci Boubínský prales. Ta je ze zákona přísně chráněna a vstup do ní je množný pouze po značených turistických cestách. Velké množství pozoruhodných míst, zachovaných pralesních zbytků však leží mimo NPR a je možné je, s respektem (!) k přírodním procesům, navštívit.

Fotografické práce jsou koordinovány se Správou NP a CHKO Šumava.

About photographs from Boubín Wild Forest

As late as the middle of the 19th century, the slopes of the Boubín mountain (48.9912517N, 13.8168892E) in the Šumava Mts., Southern Bohemia, Czechia, were covered by a whole, vast wild (virgin) forest. Let's call it the Great Wild Forest. As the time passed windstorms, the bark beetles, the logging have taken place there. The Great Forest has disappeared, but not completely. Surprisingly, much of it has remained until nowadays. The goal of my efforts is to document the places where the Great Forest has somehow remained, and to capture their changes over time in photography.

The photographs have been taken for a few years now, and during that time the forest has already undergone visible changes. A large part of the study area lies within the Boubínský National Reserve. This area is strictly protected by law and access to it is only possible via marked hiking trails. However, a large number of remarkable places, preserved forest remnants that survived, lie outside the Reserve and can be visited with respect (!) to the natural processes.

The photographic work is coordinated with the Administration of the Šumava National Park and Protected Landscape Area (CHKO).
